Counselling sessions that move you forward

Meet with your counsellor, capture every decision, and leave with a clear action plan.

About counselling sessions

Counselling sessions give you a dedicated space for live guidance. After you book through Counsellor booking, the session opens a shared workspace where your counsellor records key points, decisions and next steps. Notes stay attached to the meeting so you can revisit them anytime.

Action items turn discussion into a concrete to-do list. Each item shows what needs doing, who owns it and when it’s due. You can tick them off, add details or move them into Checklists for each application. The feature links with Essays, Letters of recommendation and Interview prep so tasks flow into the right writing or practice tools.

What it does

  • Attend scheduled meetings

Join live sessions booked via Counsellor booking with a shared agenda and timer.

  • Capture session notes

Counsellors record discussion points, university feedback and strategy changes in real time.

  • Create action items

Turn decisions into assigned tasks with due dates that sync to your Checklists.

  • Review past sessions

Reopen any previous meeting to read notes, check completed actions and see what’s pending.

  • Link to application work

Connect action items directly to Essays, Letters of recommendation, Interview prep or Financial aid tasks.

How it works

  1. Book a session

Use Counsellor booking to pick a time slot and confirm the meeting topic.

  2. Meet and discuss

Join the video or chat session; your counsellor adds notes as you talk.

  3. Receive action items

After the meeting, review the generated tasks, adjust deadlines and assign owners.

  4. Track progress

Mark items complete, add comments or move them into the relevant Checklist for each university.

Who it is for

  • Students building a university list

Need structured guidance to narrow choices and plan application steps.

  • Applicants managing multiple essays

Want counsellor feedback turned into concrete writing tasks with deadlines.

  • Parents supporting the process

Want visibility into meeting outcomes and what their child should do next.

  • Counsellors tracking student progress

Need a shared record of advice given and follow-up items for each advisee.

What you gain

  • Clear next steps after every meeting

Action items eliminate ambiguity about what to do before the next session.

  • Persistent meeting record

Notes stay searchable so you never lose a recommendation or deadline mentioned months ago.

  • Seamless handoff to application tasks

Tasks flow into Checklists, Essays and Interview prep without manual copying.

  • Accountability for student and counsellor

Both parties see open items, due dates and completion status in one place.

Questions

Can I add my own notes during a session?

Yes. The shared workspace lets you type alongside your counsellor, and your entries are saved with the meeting record.

Do action items automatically appear in my Checklists?

They appear as linked tasks; you choose which Checklist each item belongs to when you review them.

What if I miss a session?

The meeting stays in your history with any notes the counsellor added. You can reschedule via Counsellor booking and pick up the same action list.

Can parents view session notes?

Access depends on the sharing settings you set in your profile; by default only you and your counsellor see them.
