Files & study resources

Upload worksheets, PDFs and links once, and the whole class has them.

Every classroom has a Study Resources shelf. The tutor adds materials, students open or download them any time, and files shared in chat and live class land in the same place.

Step by step

From a worksheet to the whole class

Part 1 of 5

Open the class shelf

  1. 1

Open a classroom from My Classrooms and go to its Study Resources page.

  2. 2

Everything shared with the class is in one list, each row showing what it is, where it came from, its size and the date.

Part 2 of 5

Upload a worksheet or PDF

  1. 3

The tutor presses Upload and picks a file from their device: a worksheet, a PDF, a slide deck, a spreadsheet or an image.

  2. 4

The file appears in the list straight away, labelled Material, for every student in the class.

Part 3 of 5

Add links and videos

  1. 5

Links, such as a video or a shared folder, sit in the same list as uploaded files, labelled Link.

  2. 6

Pressing a link opens the page in a new tab, so the class never leaves its shelf.

Part 4 of 5

Share during a live class

  1. 7

In a live class, only the class tutor can share a file. Everyone in the class can open the shared files from the room.

Part 5 of 5

Open it, any time

  1. 8

Students press Download on a file, or Open on a link, whenever they need it, during the week or the night before an exam.

  2. 9

Files shared in chat, saved whiteboards and recordings show up on the same shelf.

How it works

One shelf per class, kept by the tutor

Study Resources

One shelf for everything shared

Nothing gets buried in a chat scroll. Tutor materials, files shared in chat, saved whiteboards, recordings, notebooks and links all collect on one page. Every row says where it came from, so a student can tell the tutor's worksheet from a classmate's photo at a glance. For the notes side of study material, see Notes.

Who can do what

The tutor adds, the class reads

Everyone in the class can open the list and download from it. Only the tutor of that class (or an admin) can upload new materials or remove them, so the shelf stays tidy. A tutor can only change their own classroom's files, never another class's.

What you can share

Everyday study material is supported out of the box, and every row gets an icon that matches its type.

Documents

PDFs, Word documents and plain text, for worksheets, past papers and handouts.

Slides and sheets

PowerPoint decks, Excel sheets and CSV files.

Images

Photos and scans, such as a snapshot of a solved problem.

Audio and video

Clips and recordings the class can play or download.

Links

Any web link, which opens in a new tab.

Safe uploads

Checked before it reaches the class

Web pages, scripts and SVG images are refused outright, because they can carry code. File size is checked against a limit for its type before the upload starts, and a file in the live room is capped at 12 MB. Each class's files are kept apart, so one class can never see or index another's.
