Get Answers to Your Application Questions

Post a doubt anytime and receive a response from a counsellor or tutor who knows the admissions process.

About doubts

Doubts is a dedicated Q&A space where you can post a question at any time and receive a written response from a counsellor or tutor familiar with university admissions. It works alongside scheduled Counselling sessions and the Counsellor chat so you can resolve quick uncertainties without booking a full meeting.

Answers are stored in your personal thread, creating a searchable record you can revisit while working on Essays, Checklists, or the Application tracker. The feature is open to students and parents who need clarification on any step of the process.

What it does

  • Post a question

Write a doubt in plain language, add context such as target university or application stage, and submit it to the platform.

  • Choose a topic or expert

Tag the question by category — essays, deadlines, tests, finances — or direct it to a specific counsellor or tutor.

  • Receive a written answer

Get a detailed response from a qualified counsellor or subject tutor, typically within a short turnaround.

  • View past Q&A

Browse your own answered questions and those shared by other students (anonymised) to find similar guidance.

  • Follow up or mark resolved

Ask a clarifying question on the same thread or mark the doubt as resolved once you have what you need.

  • Attach supporting files

Upload a draft essay, checklist screenshot, or transcript excerpt so the responder sees the exact material.

How it works

  1. Open the Doubts page

Navigate to the Doubts section from the main dashboard or from within a related feature like Essays or Checklists.

  2. Write your question

Enter the doubt, select relevant tags, and optionally attach a file for context.

  3. Submit and wait for notification

The question is routed to an available counsellor or tutor; you receive an in-app alert when an answer is posted.

  4. Read the answer

Open the thread to see the full response, including any suggested next steps or links to other features.

  5. Act on the guidance

Apply the advice directly — update an essay, adjust a checklist item, or book a <strong>Counselling session</strong> for deeper discussion.

Who it is for

  • High school seniors

Students finalising applications who need quick clarification on prompts, requirements, or strategy.

  • Parents supporting applicants

Parents who want to ask procedural questions on behalf of their child without scheduling a full session.

  • International applicants

Students navigating unfamiliar systems who benefit from targeted answers about visas, transcripts, or test policies.

  • Students between counselling sessions

Anyone who has a <strong>Counselling session</strong> booked but needs an answer now to keep moving forward.

What you gain

  • Faster unblocking

Resolve a specific confusion in hours instead of waiting days for the next scheduled meeting.

  • Searchable personal knowledge base

Every answered doubt stays in your account, so you can reference it later while completing other tasks.

  • Complements live sessions

Use Doubts for tactical questions and reserve <strong>Counselling sessions</strong> for strategic planning.

  • Access to subject specialists

Route technical questions — like STEM essay nuances or portfolio requirements — to tutors with domain expertise.

  • Reduces anxiety

Knowing a reliable answer is a post away helps maintain momentum during high-pressure periods.

Questions

Who answers the questions?

Qualified college counsellors and subject tutors who are part of the TYCHR network. Each responder has verified experience in university admissions.

How long does it take to get an answer?

Most questions receive a response within a few hours during business days. Complex or highly specialised doubts may take longer.

Can I ask a follow-up on the same thread?

Yes. You can reply to the answer with a clarifying question, and the same responder (or another) will address it.

Are my doubts visible to other students?

Only if you choose to share them anonymously. By default, your threads are private to you and the responding expert.
