Students type while the tutor teaches, the tutor can message everyone or just the staff, and the conversation carries on after the lesson ends.

From a quick question to a continuing conversation
Open the chat
Chat sits beside the video in every live class. Open the Chat tab to read and write messages without leaving the lesson.
Choose who hears it
Before sending, pick Everyone to message the whole class, or Admin only to message just the tutor and admins.
See who is talking
Every message shows the sender's name and a role badge, so a tutor's reply is never mistaken for a classmate's.
Never miss a message
Messages keep arriving while the chat is hidden. An unread badge appears on the Chat tab and the panel button, and clears when you look.
Carry on after class
Between classes, chat continues in your Messages inbox, with the class conversation, tutor announcements and conversations with your tutor.

Names you can trust
The sender's name and role come from the live connection itself, not from the message. A student cannot post a message that looks like it came from the tutor.
Chat that keeps up
Chat listens for messages the whole time you are in the room, even when the panel is closed or another tab is open. When you open it, the conversation is already there and the unread count resets.
Private stays private
Admin only messages go to the class's tutor and admins and nobody else. If no staff member is in the room at that moment, the message is not sent at all, rather than falling back to the whole class.
Between classes, too
Messages live in one inbox for each role. A class has a chat for the tutor and students and a read-only announcements channel. Tutors can also be reached one to one, and parents can talk with their child's tutor.
