IB DP Computer Science — A1 Computer fundamentals — Data representation and computer logic | SL | A1.2.4
📋 What You Will Learn
- Construct a complete truth table for any Boolean expression, with intermediate columns
- Use truth tables to predict the output of a simple logic circuit
- Build a truth table directly from a written problem description
- Derive a table from a logic diagram and use it to spot simplifications
- Simplify expressions with Boolean algebra laws and with Karnaugh maps
- Prove two expressions equivalent by comparing their output columns
🧪 Why This Matters A truth table is exhaustive testing done on paper: every possible input scenario, one row each, no case forgotten. That is why engineers trust it — if two circuits produce identical columns for all rows, they are provably the same circuit, and the cheaper one wins.
